Mother GooseStudents at Sugar Valley Rural Charter School had a surprise visitor to help bring on the winter break. No, it wasn't Santa or Rudolph. It was none other than Mother Goose! That's right, Shirley Owens, a Loganton community member, came in on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 to recite a few nursery rhymes to K-2 students, dressed head to toe in Mother Goose attire!

Shirley, a retired teacher of 25 years has been visiting schools, daycares, and hospitals since she retired in 1999. Although this was not her first time as a guest reader, it was her first time visiting SVRCS, and we were thrilled to have her. She also taught students a mini lesson about rhyming words, discussed the importance of getting ideas down on paper, and finished each grade level visit with the classic Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Students and staff enjoyed their afternoon with Mrs. Owens tremendously, and they are thankful for the opportunity to spend some time immersed in the world of nursery rhymes and other great reads.
