School Choice Information

NCLB School Choice

In 2010-2011 PSSA testing SVRCS met 9 of 15 targets for AYP. As a result of not meeting AYP this year, the school is now in School Improvement I. SVRCS was in Warning in 2009-2010 because of reading performance in the Economically Disadvantaged subgroup and not overall performance of the school.

School improvement letter sent to parents at the beginning of 11-12 school year.

As a result of the school’s status in School Improvement, all SVRCS Students are eligible for the school choice option under the Federal No Child Left Behind regulations. As a single-school entity, the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School can offer no other buildings to which students can transfer.  Any students wishing to change schools as a result the school’s academic performance have the option of returning to their home school.

At the beginning of the 11-12 school year, 275 Students were eligible for NCLB School Choice Option. To date, no one has selected the option.

If you would like to request that your child be transferred under the NCLB School Choice Option, please make that request in writing to Logan Coney, CEO, Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, 236 E Main St, Loganton, PA 17747.
